Akira Yamada is an international hair stylist based in Amsterdam, bringing the artistry of Paris, Milan, London and New York fashion weeks to the salon chair. With 19 years of experience, he specialises in modern cuts, colour and authentic Japanese hair straightening.
His work spans major fashion houses, runway shows, and editorial shoots for magazines such as Vogue, GQ, WWD and more, as well as styling for international celebrities. At Akira Hair AMS, you can experience runway-level technique in a relaxed, intimate setting.
Akira Yamada is an international hair stylist whose career began in Japan.
He trained in top salons across Tokyo, London, and New York, and served as an art director at SHAKE Hair Salon in Saitama.
While in London, he pursued session styling for photoshoots and runway shows, assisting world-renowned hair artist Angelo Seminara (Streeters)—an experience that shaped his technical precision and creative approach.
In 2018, Akira moved to New York, where he styled numerous celebrities including
Sam Smith, Snail Mail, Lucy Dacus, Grace VanderWaal, Parquet Courts, and Daisy Lowe.
He relocated to Amsterdam in 2022, joining Rob Peetoom Elandsgracht as a Top Stylist before becoming fully independent. He now works at Kenvo Studio in Jordaan while continuing his international work.
Akira regularly styles hair for fashion shoots and runway shows, including Paris Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, and Haute Couture presentations.
